How To Survive A Sale?

Picture taken at Galeries Lafayette, oh boy i miss Paris...
Sometimes i seriously wonder, what am i doing to myself with this 5 piece French wardrobe thing. Why not let go a little? Well, simply because there's more important things in the world than clothes. And shoes. And even more clothes.
With bi-annual sale popping up everywhere , i always have to mentally prepare myself to prevent a huge pile of bad bargains by the end of it. Shoes that i am sure i am never going to wear... Crazy colourful stuff (because it's almost free!!)... Another black top to add to the already ginormous family in my wardrobe...
So here's my top 8 tips/rules on how to survive a sale.

1. Simply avoid. This one is both the easiest and the hardest at the same time. The easiest because there's no eye contact with any tempting dress or that one bag.  On the other hand it's the hardest because the sale is freaking everywhere.

2. Set a budget. I you do want to take a nose dive into the deep deep hole of what is called a sale, set a budget that possibly fits your bank account.

3. Stay strict. Remember that there was a reason you didn't want something in the beginning. You didn't buy those shorts you saw at Zara before because they were 100% polyester? Please don't buy them now. No, not even for 20 euros.

4. Need vs Want. When a sale starts, my 'wants' usually become bigger than my needs. Try to keep them apart by creating a list of what you really need and stick to that list.

5. When in doubt, don't buy. This rule kind of always applies, but especially during sale season. When in doubt, don't buy just because you're afraid it will be gone by the end of the day. You'll somehow get over it, trust me.

6. Stick to basics. This is for when you're not very much into sales or simply too afraid to buy crazy stuff for the sake of buying them. Stick to a pre-written list of basics and you'll be just fine.

7. Non-seasonal only. Don't buy anything that it too much 'in season'. That super cool florae Givenchy print? You can't wear it next season (or never).

8. Go early. Believe me its hard for me to even type this since i am definitely not a morning person as they say 'go hard or go home'. So go as early as possible, preferably when other bargain hunters are still sleepy or even sleeping.

Ready now? Let's go!
